Children's Orthodontics & Braces

People usually come in to see the orthodontist in their teen years, once their adult teeth have settled into place and are in need of some straightening. But, sometimes children as young as seven can be recommended to us for what's called interceptive treatment therapy.

Interceptive treatment therapy involves wearing removable dental appliances that coax incoming teeth into he right position, and is used only in cases where we are able to predict serious misalignment.

For the most part, though, for teens a visit to the orthodontist means braces – and what has come to be known as the beginning of the "uncool" years. However, advances in orthodontic technology have helped not just the science of orthodontia – it's helped the kids who need braces, as well.

Depending on the kind of orthodontic help you need, we can fit your child with a wide variety of braces that call less attention to their treatment – and more attention to their individual sense of style and fun – including:

  • Clear or tooth-colored brackets
  • Interchangeable wires or elastics, in every color of the rainbow
  • Removable retainers
  • Invisalign – invisible, removable alignment trays
